Day 1 - New York City

Wednesday morning saw light rain and cloudy skies. All six Final Leg teams travelled from their base in East Brunswick into New York City to take the Flame of Hope to some very special places. First stop was Fox Studios in 48th Street, where the run was launched live on Fox & Friends. The Final Leg team then ran to Times Square where they were welcomed by the largest toy store in North America and presenting sponsor of the Final Leg - Toys’R’Us. This was followed by breakfast at Ellen’s Stardust Diner and then a visit to Chelsea Wharf for a sports report with Fox Sports.

The team then ran into the September 11 memorial site before moving on to Battery Park and a ferry ride to Liberty Island to visit the Statue of Liberty.

After returning to East Brunswick, the Final Leg team broke into three routes with teams going to Philadelphia and Wildwoods in preparation for day 2.
